The 12 year old undertook the swim to raise awareness for breast cancer.

His mother is suffering from the disease which is in its remission phase, according to Martinique media reports.

In 2018 the youngster successfully completed a ten-hour swim between Diamant and Schoelcher in Martinique.

In 2017 Maleau completed a 6.4 km swim.

Media reports in Martinique said it was not easy to set up the Saint Lucia to Martinique event.

They reported that Saint Lucia authorities insisted on the implementation of strict COVID-19 protocols.
