14 People Hospitalised After Micoud Bus Accident

Emergency personnel say fourteen people had to be rushed to hospital after a bus ran off the road at Ti Rocher, Micoud on Wednesday morning.

Responders transported ten occupants of the vehicle, while the other four arrived at St Jude Hospital by private means, reports say.

The injuries sustained by the vehicle occupants included lacerations and fractures.

Eyewitnesses reported that three occupants of the bus were trapped.

But they told St Lucia Times that a private citizen who owns heavy duty equipment used a crane to assist the emergency responders in getting them out.

According to information, the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle after 7.00 am.

As a result, the bus ran off the road and ended up in a ditch.

Units from the Micoud, Dennery and  Vieux Fort fire stations responded, with back up from Crash Fire Hall at the airport in Vieux Fort.
