(Contributed Article by Shay LeGrand) Dull skin, flare-ups, pimples, dry skin, flaky skin, one skin condition or the other, we’ve all been there.

We see all the advertisements for many products that are supposed to give better skin, “perfect skin”, but the truth is, not all products work.

Our lives are busy, work, school, home, there is a lot going on, and most of us don’t have the time for the self-care we so desperately need. Here’s the thing, the less care we give to our skin, the more likely it is to not be as flawless as we hope.

If you’re done with using products that have not worked for you and looking for something new and natural to give you that bright glowing healthy skin, here’s a simple routine you can implement to see some actual results.

Drink Water

Something you might not know about H20- Water actually helps maintain your skin’s elasticity. Drinking large amounts of water lessens the likelihood of fine lines and wrinkles.

Sleep More

Beauty sleep is real. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep at night. The blood flow of your skin increases during sleep. While you enjoy a restful slumber, your skin rebuilds its collagen which helps reduce wrinkles and age spots.

#SCS ‘Self Care Saturday/ Sunday’

It is so important to dedicate at least one day a week to some self-pampering. Whatever day you have available to do some self-loving spa day, take it! You need it both mentally and physically.

Natural Skin Care Routine

For the various skin types, the fundamentals remain the same:

SteamingThis opens your pores and preps them for a thorough cleaning.

CleansingHoney & Lemon, Plain Yogurt, and Diluted Apple cider are all great natural cleansing ingredients rich in Vitamin B12 & Vitamin C. Cleansing gets rid of dirt and bacteria in your skin.

Exfoliating Out with the old, in with the new, exfoliating is essential to get rid of dry dull skin, and unclog the pores. Sugar, coffee, and oats work perfectly combined or separately for a thorough scrub.

BrighteningMask up! Tumeric is highly recommended to get beautiful glowing skin. It is a natural skin brightener to get rid of age spots and hyperpigmentation. Milk and turmeric powder with a carrier oil is a perfect mask-making combo.

MoisturizingA great skincare routine needs sufficient skin moisture, and you have options!

  • Honey
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Shea butter
  • Aloe

These are essentially next-level natural moisturizers.

Vitamin C

Get that Vitamin C! Consume it and use it. Vitamin C is hands down one of the best ingredients for glowing skin, plain and simple. Incorporate natural ingredients rich in Vitamin C in your diet and skincare routine.

DON’T STRESS OUT!

Take it easy. Stress can harm your skin and other body systems. An overworked mind and body can weaken your immune system which can expose you to various skin-related issues like eczema, hives, and other types of skin rashes. Being zen is highly recommended!

Takeaway

If you’re looking to go au naturel for healthier skin, the truth is, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. We all have different skin types, but the good thing is that the fundamentals don’t change.

Use these fundamentals to create a routine that works for you, and be sure to do your research.
