Charges Pending Against Man Held With Gun, Ammunition In Gros Islet

On Thursday, February 2, 2023 about 5:45 p.m. officers attached to the Special Services Unit arrested a male in Monchy, Gros Islet, whilst on mobile patrol, following the recovery of a firearm.

The team of officers were alerted to a suspicious male near a business establishment and proceeded to approach him.

He attempted to flee, however was quickly apprehended. A search of his person was conducted and a 9mm pistol containing a magazine with five (5) rounds of ammunition was recovered.

He was arrested and remains in police custody pending charging.

  1. We can hear police working in every station except Anse La Raye. Can someone tell me if the station at Anse La Raye has the police? Are they afraid of the criminals at Jacmel and Boisden? what is wrong?
