Several People Injured In Road Collisions

Monday was another busy day for the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS).

Within a few hours, the service responded to three road collisions and transported seven people to medical facilities.

At about 1:48 pm, emergency personnel learned that a Suzuki Swift collided with a motor scooter on Brazil Street, Castries.

An ambulance transported the twenty-six-year-old scooter rider to the OKEU Hospital for medical attention.

Less than three hours later, the fire service emergency personnel were on the road again, responding to a report of a rear-end collision involving two motor omnibuses at Choc, Castries.

The responders from the Babonneau Fire Station transported three individuals to the OKEU Hospital and one to the Gros Islet Polyclinic.

The victims were stable at the time.

Later, at 6:31 pm, the SLFS rushed to Balata, Castries, after a report that a motorcycle hit a utility pole as the rider tried to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle.

The rider and passenger both sustained what appeared to be minor abrasions and complained of body pains.

After providing emergency medical care, the emergency responders transported them to the OKEU Hospital.

  1. For an island with very limited healthcare facilities as well as limited resources …I don’t get it.

  2. Bus drivers on this island are the worst. Do they actually take a test? None of them seem to know how to use indicators or mirrors, I’ve yet to see one with a full working set of break lights, how do they get through the inspection? I wonder……………
