Recently, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) identified a growing issue in the central division: an increase in burglaries and other offences against property.
To combat the frequency of such incidents, the RSLPF has intensified night patrols, along with other strategies, in the city and surrounding neighbourhoods. This initiative, though recently implemented, has demonstrated effectiveness, with a notable decrease in the prevalence of these occurrences.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, about 1:00 am, a team of officers assigned to the said project were conducting foot patrols along Chaussee Road, Castries. The officers were alerted to apparent gunshots in the Wilton’s Yard community and proceeded to the area.
During the investigation, an encounter with a male suspect led to the discharge of firearms, resulting in injury to two individuals. Currently, these individuals are listed in stable condition at a medical facility.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754.

Don’t you all mean Saturday morning? That place is always packed with little boys doing idle shate. Nonnpolì7
a a but that not making sense. so wasn’t the police involved I the discharged of their firearms ? why are they asking persons with information to contact police stations
questions – Was the individuals shot were ones who initiated the shooting or firing rounds indiscriminatley.
There was no recovery of any fire arms and ammunition during that incident or it was and exercise of poor judgment in the execution of a police operation that left two individuals hospitalized. Please be guided.
So the lady who got graze in her head with the police bullet ??? hmm
It’s time the police get rid of them Cockroaches in them communities bunch of useless pricks
Is he dead yet? Sigh!
Some police officers are just as bad as the criminals on the block. In fact if you do a simple background check, they come from a family of unsavory characters who are all too happy to now have a son who is a police officer. We all know why.
Hearing gun shots and then having to go into Wilton’s yard to investigate would have anyone on edge.
Let the police conduct their investigation into the shooting. Assist if you can. It’s unfortunate if an innocent person got hit or wounded by a stray bullet.
That community is a known trouble spot. Either they put cameras in the area or relocate and scatter the residents. That land which is in the city has better potential than being used as a ghetto.
Want to make Castries beautiful, clean and safe….. Start by removing the ghettos that are in the city.
Everybody running they trap yall know what happened ???They didn’t have any guns on the scene so why did two people get shot????Everybody acting like because it is a ghetto it is right. No it is not they are still people no matter the background they have SMH. And 9 times out of ten the same ghetto people that helping other people the same people from wilton’s yard that was feeding homeless people give the people they props they not bad people they may do bad things from time to time but they have good hearts.
jusso?
It’s always sad but unintended when an innocent gets hurt in a hostile environment. Bystanders need to understand that the trajectory of a bullet is always unknown, when the sound is all we have to go by. This means that the best approach is to take cover for protection. Even when we witness the actual firing, bullets will ricochet and still have enough energy to be fatal. Too often we see bystanders at the scene of a crime overcrowding, interfering, harassing, threatening and hampering the police execution of it’s duties. If the trend continues, expect more of the same.
Let us be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is 😈 evil !
