Jn Baptiste Emphasises Need For Healthcare Workers’ Safety

Saint Lucia’s Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs Minister, Moses Jn. Baptiste has underscored the responsibility of governments to ensure healthcare professionals’ safety, security, and mental well-being.

According to a Ministry release, Jn. Baptiste stressed the pressing need to protect healthcare workers, particularly in environments impacted by crime and violence.

The Minister led a local delegation to the Forty-Seventh Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) meeting in Washington, D.C.

The Health Ministry release said Jn. Baptiste actively participated in
discussions, making key contributions regarding the intersection of crime, violence, and public health.

Jn. Baptiste said focusing on the plight of healthcare professionals at public facilities was urgent.

“These individuals are on the frontlines, often working in challenging and dangerous environments, especially in areas affected by crime and violence,” the release quoted him saying.

” We must prioritise the mental health of our healthcare workers, creating a supportive environment where they feel protected and valued,” Jn. Baptiste declared.

The Minister said in so doing,  the healthcare professionals could continue providing essential services to the people of Saint Lucia and the Caribbean.

In addition to crime and violence, other topics relevant to Saint Lucia at the Washington D.C. event included discussions on Cervical Cancer Elimination, updates on the Regional Examination for Nurse Registration, and the reduced funding for HIV/AIDS responses in the region.

Lucia’s Health Strategic Team will receive the recommendations from the September 27 to 28 meeting for further discussion and implementation.

  1. Jn Baptist why are you one who along with others, agreed to shut down the construction of the Modern Hospital, started under the former Government, which would benefit the people of the South Districts, most especially yours?
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO USE YOUR PERSUASIAN TO RESTART THE CONSTOCTION.
