UWP Unveils Five New Candidates for Upcoming General Elections

The opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has presented five candidates who will join its slate to contest the next general elections, which are due by July next year.

Bradley Marcelle Fulgence will contest the Dennery North seat, Elisha Norbert is the candidate for Micoud North, Leanna Lady Lee Johannes will run in Vieux Fort South, Marcella Johnson has been confirmed as the candidate for Gros Islet, and Laura Jn Pierre-Noel will be seeking to represent the Laborie/Augier constituency.

The UWP said in a post on its Facebook page that each candidate brings “passion, experience, and a deep commitment” to driving positive change in their communities.

“These five future leaders embody the United Workers Party’s mission to restore hope, empower communities, and rebuild Saint Lucia. They are ready to stand with the people, work for the people, and fight for a better tomorrow,” it added.

Johannes was described as a “bold” media personality who will bring her bright vision to the people of Vieux Fort South.

“With a strong background in media and a passion for her community, she is ready to make a significant impact,” the UWP said.

The UWP expects Fulgence, a regional business professional and entrepreneur, to bring fresh ideas to the constituency.

Johnson, a “dynamic” businesswoman, is committed to empowering women and pushing for meaningful progress, the party said.

Norbert is a teacher, farmer, sports coach, and entrepreneur. The UWP believes his “deep connection” to his community and diverse background will help him address the needs of Micoud North.

Of Jn Pierre-Noel, a community activist and entrepreneur, the opposition party said: “With her grassroots experience and passion for community development, she is prepared to advocate for the needs of her people.”

  1. No issues with four of them. Candidates need to be selected based on competence and their ability to effectively bring about well needed change in the constituency and country. They should also be in a position if elected, to represent us on the regional and international stage. I don’t see those qualities in the last candidate. UWP by their selection is not prepared to unseat SLP in Vieux Fort South, sad.

  2. Tropical Trump will run the safe Micoud South seat but sending a young squad in the den of the lion …

  3. Straight, you are so wrong and clearly new to politics. These are constituency hopefuls, they may never be in a position to represent us as ministers. They are only pawns who may never win their run off. Now if there is one thing we know about Politics is that the only one capable of unseating anybody is the last candidate. She represents a constituency which established her popularity. If Richard frederick can win based on popularity, so can a woman with a business and psychology degree who also has a roro platform.

  4. @Bipolar no seat is safe whether SLP or UWP.Expect anything to happen just like the last elections

  5. @Lucian. Whatever occurred at the last election was definitely expected. If anyone expected differently were living in a parallel universe.

  6. I am happy we have new persons in the party. Now we have to replace rejects such as Dominic Guy and Herod. These are rejected politicians, to get the young people vote they have to go.

  7. hey Lydia
Just getting to know about this platform. This four will and can cause a landslide with the right people around them.
Let’s rally our people for a win. House to house cultural shows, sports tournaments, hampers attend family functions funerals, meet in church.
We can do this heat them up. Young energetic and focus
A well-oiled machinery is an early win.
