Kaiso Pros Tent Ushers in Calypso Season with Spirit, Song and Unity

The stage is set for a season of music, culture, and commentary as the Kaiso Pros Tent (KPT) officially launches its 2025 season on May 30, unveiling its cast under the theme “The Art of Kaiso.”

The opening night will be followed by a second show on June 6 and the quarterfinals on June 11, all hosted at the Cultural Centre in Castries.

“I stand with pride and humility as the representative of this talented group of calypsonians,” said tent leader Lennon Prospere. “We stand united as one voice, a chorus of passion and purpose, ready to usher in a new season of Calypso with the rhythm of our hearts and the fire of our heritage.”

The KPT, known for its powerful lyrical storytelling and musical excellence, announced its 2025 lineup, featuring returning favourites Mystic, Dez, Kaykay and TC Brown, alongside fresh voices Taker, Hyper, Yoshi and Ti Blacks. Absent from the launch but still part of the tent are Black Berry and Lady Cece.

Prospere emphasised the KPT’s role in preserving calypso, calling its performers “cultural ambassadors and the voice of the people.”

He promised a season filled with energy and pride, declaring, “We pledge to uplift and inspire, infusing every song with infectious kaiso energy from thought-provoking lyrics to dance-inducing beats.”

Inviting the public to support the tradition, he urged unity and celebration: “We are honoured to be your voices on stage and are ready to celebrate together to keep our culture alive. Long live calypso, long live our unity.”
