Nigerian President Bola Tinubu arrived in Saint Lucia on Saturday evening for an official visit aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries and other members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
Tinubu was originally scheduled to land at Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux Fort at 3:45 p.m. local time and continue to George F. L. Charles Airport via a domestic transfer. However, inclement weather forced a change in plans, delaying his arrival and cancelling the inter-airport transfer.
The Nigerian leader’s flight landed at Hewanorra at approximately 5:30 p.m., where he was greeted with an official welcome by government and state officials on the tarmac. President Tinubu and local dignitaries later departed the airport in a convoy.
Tinubu is accompanied by a Nigerian delegation.
A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister said his trip seeks “to pave the way for the rekindling of ancestral bonds, igniting a new era of diplomatic, economic and cultural possibilities between Saint Lucia and Nigeria”.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit will include high-level talks focused on cooperation in the areas of culture, energy, and finance.
This is the first official visit to Saint Lucia by a Nigerian head of state.

Welcome SLU OGA!
All the pomp & circumstance surrounding Tinubu’s visit does not erase the fact that he has always been a puppet of the real owners of the US (who control both Republicans & Democrats), for their neo-colonial designs for the African continent! The statement from the OPM is a reflection of St. Lucia’s desperate & long-standing mendicant mentality, which prevents it from understanding the economic & military realities in our world today!
What are these realities?
Militarily, the US empire has been exposed as a bully which can only prevail against defenseless opponents. Since 1945, the US has lost all the wars it has prosecuted, except against Grenada! Whereas its military peers (Russia & China) make effective defensive weapons, the US makes (offensive & defensive) weapons for profit (or as I like to put it, the US “makes believe” that it is a military power)!
Economically, the US empire is bankrupt – it is in debt to the tune of US$35trillion! Everyone in the world (except US vassals) know they can get better deals from BRICS nations; and because of the US’ military weakness, they no longer have to fear mafia-type extortion by the US.
However, Caricom governments are still delusional about dealing with the US. This directly stems from their calcified mindset that “beggars can’t be choosers!”
