A man has been remanded to prison in connection with the death of 60-year-old Calixtus George, who was fatally wounded in his Au Tabor, Anse La Raye community last month.
In a statement on Wednesday, police confirmed that Joel Regis was arrested and formally charged with murder on June 16. He was taken before the First District Court for a bail hearing, and bail was denied. Regis has since been remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
The charge relates to a June 3 incident, when officers from the Anse La Raye Police Station responded to a report of an assault around 9:45 p.m. They found George unconscious and wounded by the roadside in Au Tabor.
He was transported by ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries ten days later, on June 13.
