CASTRIES, Saint Lucia – Wednesday, September 02, 2015 – Once again we are seeing the apathetic and draconian policies forced down the backs of hard working St. Lucians by this Labour Government through its revised vehicle license fees.
At a time when St, Lucia is going through a deep recession, small Business and private citizens are being forced to pay an increases of 100% and in some cases 200%,
A truck driver, who cannot find employment because only a select few are given contracts, must find $750.00 for each of his trucks or face the possibility of not being able to use the equipment to work and feed his family
A taxi driver who may be the only breadwinner in the family and can hardly work must find $350.00, or else he will be forced to park his vehicle.
We are calling on the Government to immediately postpone the implementation of the new license fees until the economy rebounds and people are in a better position to afford.
