Thirty-eight year old James Bretney of Balata, Babonneau, who was formally charged for the offence of murder in the discovery of the dead body of a woman on Reduit beach, made his first appearance in the First District Court today.
Bretney was remanded in custody until October 14, 2015, when he will make another appearance in court.
The body of 52 year old, Sophia Delia Charles Didier of Reduit Gros-Islet was discovered on Reduit beach on August 30, 2015.
A post mortem examination conducted later that day on the body, revealed that she died as a result of asphyxiation (condition of being deprived of oxygen) secondary to drowning.
The examination also revealed neck trauma and blunt trauma about the body.
Bretney was formally charged for the offence of murder on September 3, 2015.
