Carellie residents who say they foiled a burglary attempt on a downstairs apartment, have reported that a flat screen television had already been wrapped in a sheet, apparently to be taken away by the suspect whom they caught.
The alleged burglary in progress was interrupted when a friend of the owner of the house dropped by to present his comrade with some coconuts, and heard the sound of glass being broken in the downstairs apartment which was unoccupied because the tenants are currently abroad.
The friend told the Times that he armed himself with a piece of wood and surprised a young man whom he believed had broken into the home by smashing a window, opening it from outside and letting himself in.
The youth, identified as a resident of Agard, Morne du Don, is reported to have had a crowbar in his possession as well as an undisclosed sum of money in coins and a remote control device for a television in his back pocket.
He was also in possession of an identification card and another document.
The youth was tied up by residents who summoned the Police.
Lawmen arrived on the scene and took the youngster away.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. this morning.
