The Community Relations Branch (CRB), of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), is investigating reports of an explosion at a secondary school in the North of the Island.
Two students, both aged fourteen, were taken into custody yesterday in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the explosion took place yesterday at the back of the school building.
The students are reported to have put a mixture of chlorine, soda and other substances in a plastic bottle to cause the explosion.
No one was injured in the incident.
The Police were summoned and took the students down to CRB where their parents, one of whom is reported to be a former Police Officer, were summoned.
The Times has been reliably informed that it is not the first such incident at a secondary school.
A Police official disclosed that some inquisitive students who frequent the internet are eager to experiment after obtaining information about how to make explosives.
The official said it is for that reason that school laboratories should be properly secured, to prevent unauthorised access to potentially dangerous chemicals.
