Creole Heritage Month launched

The Folk Research Centre (FRC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries launched Creole Heritage Month on Tuesday September 29, 2015 at 10:00 am at FRC’s premises at Mount Pleasant.

All stakeholders were represented at the launch including producers of the various events, the four host communities of Creole Heritage Month, sponsors, artists, the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries through officials of the Ministry and staff of the Alliance Francaise.

The meeting was addressed by Mr. Leslie Charles, Chairman of the FRC; Dr. Kentry JnPierre, Parliamentary Representative in the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries; Representatives of the host communities Boguis, Canaries, Ti Rocher-Micoud and Laborie; Mr. Hilary La Force, Ag. Executive Director of the FRC. The MC was Michael Gaspard. The music was provided by the Eastern Folk Band.

Major sponsors include Digicel, Consolidated Foods, Lime, Bank of St. Lucia, National Community Foundation, St. Lucia National Lottery, Windward and Leeward Brewery, Radio St. Lucia, among many others. Media Houses were well represented and Radio St. Lucia carried the event live.
