The venue for one of the most anticipated events on the annual entertainment calendar, Oktoberfest en Kweyol has been changed to the Gaiety car park for logistical reasons.
And with “Oktoberfest en Kweyol” 2015 just a few days away, organizers,Windward & Leeward Brewery Ltd are moving with great zeal, to ensure that it is the best yet. “Oktoberfest en Kweyol” will be held this Sunday, October 4 at the spacious outdoor Gaiety on Rodney bay venue and to celebrate the eighth edition of the popular festival of Creole Cuisine and Culture, peppered with great beer, guests will be welcomed to the venue with “Cheers.” This special edition WLBL brew (Cheers) is in honour of the company’s 40th anniversary.
WLBL commenced production in November 1975 to manufacture Heineken Beer under franchise from its Dutch parent company Heineken as a major shareholder. Forty years later, and the company is not only a producer of great products like Heineken, Piton, Guinness and a distributor and exporter of several others, but WLBL is a major player in the events market, staging outstanding events such as “Oktoberfest En Kweyol.”
Patrons on Sunday will be the first to sample “Cheers” emblazoned with a logo depicting the WLBL plant located in Vieux Fort. Thereafter, Cheers will be available in special collectors six-packs.
But that’s not all; the wide portfolio of WLBL will also be among the beers and beverages this Sunday, including Heineken, Piton, Guinness, Carib Beer, Amstel Bright, Strongbow Apple Ciders, Desperados and Royal Club.
Among the imported beers at this year’s “Oktoberfest en Kweyol,” Paulaner, the special edition Oktoberfest Beer from Germany will again be a highlight. The popular Parbo Bier Jogo from Suriname will also be available, as well as Mort Subite, Judas and Maes Pils from Belgium, Bulmer’s Cider and Blind Pig Cider from the UK. Fayrouz – a non-alcoholic cider from Egypt- will also be on sale in two flavours, pineapple & pear.
The eighth edition of the popular “Oktoberfest en Kweyol” will feature an explosive line-up of entertainers including Ras Africa, Invader, Robbie, Alman, Secrets Band, Avot Sevis, Mamai La Kai, Silver Shadow Dancers, Leonette Pierre and DYP all from Saint Lucia.
The featured artiste for this year’s event will be the group Metal Sound of Martinique with their endearing raga-zouk songs from the 90’s including “Jen Fi Ou Dous,” “Tros Jen,” and “Bom Siwo.”
WLBL is partnering with the FRC and the SLTB for this year’s event with DIGICEL as gold sponsor. Media partners are The Wave and Radio Caribbean and other sponsors include Landmark Events Ltd and Paradise Water.
