Photo-contest to capture the true splendor & beauty of Destination SLU

SAINT LUCIA (October 14, 2015) – In the run up to a major launch of its new and highly interactive destination website scheduled for the end of 2015, the island’s lead promotions and marketing agency – The Saint Lucia Tourist Board – has initiated an online photo competition.

The six-week competition runs from October 12 to November 23, 2015, as the organization continues to build a stock of photography that captures the true beauty and story of Simply Beautiful Saint Lucia as an award winning and sought after destination.

Opened exclusively to local photographers, both amateur and professionals, the competition will allow for a compilation of a variety of scenic destination imagery which can be used for advertising and promotional purposes. Eligible photos must capture and showcase the splendor and uniqueness of the destination.

“Destination imagery is a powerful influence over a visitor’s decision about where to take a vacation”, notes Deputy Director of Tourism Tracey Warner-Arnold.

Warner-Arnold who also heads the Tourist Board’s Marketing Division, says “Imagery that portrays key aspects of the destination, is a unique marketing tool to achieve a comparable advantage in the highly competitive tourism industry, as it appeals to the visitors’ sense of sight and broadens their imagination and expectations.”

Participants are required to submit photos depicting the natural scenery and beauty of Saint Lucia. Images can include, but not be limited to Saint Lucia’s greenery and lushness, landscapes, places of interests and attractions, stunning backgrounds,

hideaways and panoramic views. The images should evoke emotion, have a ‘wow’ factor and be captivating and unique so as to entice visitors to choose Saint Lucia as their vacation destination. Images can also showcase Saint Lucia’s Culture and Heritage.

At the end of the competition, three winners will be awarded prizes as follows:

* 1st Prize – 1 Go pro Camera and apple iPad 4

* 2nd Prize – An Apple iPhone 6 Plus

* 3rd Prize – 1 Apple iPad

The winners will be announced via social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) during the 1st week of December 2015.
