Toronto, Canada-On Sunday, October 25th, 2015, the Saint Lucian community in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will celebrate Creole Day (Jounen Kwéyòl) at the Jamaican Canadian Centre (JCA), 995 Arrow Road in Toronto. Jounen Kwéyòl is a whole day affair from 9:00 a.m. starting with breakfast featuring lots of Creole foods and drinks, cultural performances, fashion show, jokes, storytelling and much more throughout the day.
The event is hosted by the Saint Lucia Toronto Creole Committee and part proceeds will be donated to the Education of children in Saint Lucia and the Disaster Relief Fund for the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Creole Day (Jounen Kwéyòl) is a celebration of Saint Lucia’s cultural heritage and traditions. It is the grand culmination of a month of activities during which Creole culture is celebrated in French Creole countries which still maintain a strong Creole identity and is observed on the last Sunday in October.
An invitation is extended to the general public to join us at the JCA to experience the culinary and cultural traditions of Saint Lucia as we celebrate Creole Day (Jounen Kwéyòl), 2015.
