Police awaiting DPP’s instructions in Millan Ferdinand case

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, (RSLPF), is awaiting instructions from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP), before proceeding in the Millan Ferdinand child abuse case, according to Police Press Officer – Zachary Hippolyte.

“Police did what is necessary, what is demanded by law, especially when it comes to the matter of a case that is not so straightforward. They have submitted the file to the office of the DPP and now, the investigators await the instructions of the DPP’s office,” Hippolyte said last night during the MBC television programme – Police Insight.

He disclosed that two people who were assisting the Police with investigations into the death of four year old Ferdinand, had not yet been charged.

According to Hippolyte, investigations are continuing in a separate recent case of another four year old who was allegedly abused by his father.

He revealed that the child is currently at Victoria Hospital.

Hippolyte said according to his information, Doctors at the hospital have detained the child there while awaiting representatives of the Department of Human Services who are expected to commence their own investigation today, Monday October 19, 2015.

The alleged abuse of the four year old, he said, was reported to the Marigot Police station by the child’s Aunt.
