Two groups of the 2015 / / Inter-Schools’ Football U-19 Tournament were completed yesterday as matches continue in the preliminary rounds.
In Group A at the La Guerre Playing Field, Babonneau Secondary had a default win of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School while SDA Academy recorded a 5-3 victory over the Corinth Secondary at the Corinth Playing Field.
Group B was completed as Entrepot Secondary edged out a determined Vide Boutielle Secondary 3 – 2 at the SAB Playing Field. In the other match of the Group, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary disposed of C.A.R.E. 5 – 0. However, this was not enough as Sir Ira Simmons Secondary finished 3rd in the Group behind winners Entrepot Secondary and 2nd place St. Mary’s College.
Group C saw Sir Arthur Lewis Community College win by default over Marigot Secondary who never showed for the encounter. The other match was a keenly contested one with George Charles Secondary edging out the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary 1- nil.
With three teams tied on nine (9) points each, goal difference would decide on who progressed to the next round. It was Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and the Leon Hess Comprehensive.
With a final round of matches looming in Group D, all teams are still in with a chance to progress to the next round. In action on Monday 19th Anse Ger Secondary lost 2 -1 to Grande Riviere Secondary while on Tuesday 20th Micoud Secondary defeat Clendon Mason Memorial two (2) goals to one.
Group E action saw Vieux Fort Comprehensive narrowly defeating Choiseul Secondary 1-0 at the La Fargue Playing Field and in a very intense battle at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds, Vieux Post-Secondary was able to pull off a 2-1 victory over the Piaye Secondary.
Thursday’s match-ups are critical as qualifying places are at stake for the second round of competition.
Action resumes today 21st October in the 2015 / Inter-Schools’ U15 Football Tournament.
