Physical assaults dominate weekend ambulance responses

The Saint Lucia Fire Service, SLFS, has reported that it responded to eight major cases of physical assault between last Friday and yesterday, accounting for the majority of Ambulances responses over the period.

One of the cases on Saturday, October 31, 2015, involved a seventy-four year old man from Morne Ciseaux, who sustained lacerations about the body and had to be transported to hospital.

A Fire Service spokesman told the Times that in addition to the eight cases of physical assault, there were three cases of persons sustaining gunshot wounds including the fatal shooting of a eighteen year Alphius Duplessis old on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

One motor vehicle accident was responded to, as well as two bush fires.

In total, the Fire Service says it received sixty-one ambulance calls.
