The MP for Castries Central, Richard Frederick, has said that Castries is not reflective of a City to which people would want to return.
“I urge the authorities to put more emphasis on Castries Central, its cleanliness and its aesthetic appeal to the visitors to this country,” Frederick declared, noting that Saint Lucia is heavily dependent on tourism.
According to the former Housing Minister, there is need to create an impression of the City that would instill in visitors a desire to return.
“Castries Central now leaves a lot to be desired,” he asserted.
The state of Castries has been the subject of much criticism, with both locals and visitors expressing concern about the cleanliness of the capital, the state of some of its buildings, the presence of vagrants and stray dogs roaming the streets, as well as indiscriminate urination in some areas.
