Heavy rainfall creates problems for WASCO

Heavy rains on Friday of last week have damaged systems operated by the Water and Sewerage Company Inc., the company has reported.

At a news conference this morning WASCO’s Senior Manager for Operations, Aly Anthony, disclosed that some of the damaged systems are still off line, including the one at Canaries which sustained extensive damage.

However Anthony expressed confidence that the Canaries system would be back in operation by weekend.

He disclosed that of the three intakes feeding Hill 20, two are still down.

Anthony said that as a result, Hill 20 is currently being supplemented with water supply from the John Compton Dam.

According to Anthony, Desbarras, Dennery North and South, Micoud, Delcer, Anse La Raye and Beausejour are all back in operation, while the John Compton Dam was not affected.
