The Water and Sewerage Company Inc., WASCO, has said that despite recent heavy rainfall that triggered flooding and landslides in several parts of the Island, Saint Lucia is still going through a dry period.
Water Resource Officer, Gerald John, says Saint Lucia has fallen short of what is required at this time.
As a result he has called on consumers to continue conserving water and use the commodity sparingly.
“What has happened is that with the rains that we have been having we have seen slight increases in our base flows,” John disclosed, adding that this has affected rivers that are traditionally low.
“We are hoping that this trend will continue,” the WASCO official said.
