WASCO gets leak detection equipment

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc., WASCO, today obtained a gift of leak detection equipment from the German agency, GIZ.

The gift is part of a 400,000 Euro package of assistance from the German Strategic Alliance, GIZ, to WASCO that also includes energy efficiency and network management.

WASCO officials have said that the large number of leaks along the utility’s pipelines are a major contributor to non-revenue water supply.

The utility currently has two leak detection teams – one in the North and the other in the South of the Island.
