The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, located on Chaussee Road, today organized a march against crime and violence from the church to the Derek Walcott square.
Pastor of the Church, Dacosta Williams, told the Times that the activity was designed to motivate young people, many of whom took part in the march, to abandon drugs and violence.
Williams expressed concern about criminal activity in Saint Lucia, including a recent series of rapes.
“Crime is growing every day,” he acknowledged, but he asserted that “the message” would make a difference.
At the Derek Walcott Square members of the church gathered to hear sermons from religious Ministers advocating non-violence.
