The Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport has finalized arrangements for the replacement of the damaged culvert along the Gros Islet Roadway Opposite the JQ Rodney Bay Mall. Works commenced on Saturday 14th November 2015.
Until the MIPST further advises, the road carriage way opposite the JQ Rodney Bay Mall will be closed to all vehicular traffic from both directions.
Consultations were also held with with the Gros Islet Mini Bus drivers Association, and it was jointly agreed that matter was both urgent and necessary.
As a consequence of this decision, the operators of Route 1A Buses plying the Castries to Gros Islet Route have agreed to the following arrangements.
1. There will be transportation service available from Castries to Rodney Bay and back to Castries;
2. There will be a shuttle service from Rodney Bay to Gros Islet;
3. There will be a full transportation service from Castries to Gros Islet via Mongiraud, Bonne Terre exiting at the Bonne Terre Bridge and onwards to Gros Islet.
Buses providing the respective services will be clearly identifiable to ensure that commuters embark on the appropriate bus. Bus fares have not been changed.
Motorists travelling to Castries from Cap Estate, Gros Islet, Bonne Terre, and surrounding communities in the north are advised to use alternative roads. Likewise, motorists wishing to travel to those communities from areas further south are also advised to use alternative roads.
