Micoud North MP, Doctor Gale Rigobert, has called on children of the Micoud Primary school who may be confused, unsure or uncertain, to turn to adults whom they can trust to share their secrets.
Rigobert was addressing the students who had gathered today for a church service to mark Universal Children’s Day.
“Given the events of the last few weeks in particular, the loss of the life of young Milan at the hands of people who should have loved and protected him, and also given the recent reports of sexual assaults, I felt it necessary to speak about protecting our children,” she said.
The Micoud North MP, who is also leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, observed that children will grow up to be good citizens only if they are instilled with the right values.
However she asserted that if they do not receive the right guidance and the love and attention they deserve, they will grow up to be troublesome citizens.
“It is therefore necessary to focus on protecting and loving our children, and those who are responsible need to do so in a loving way,” Rigobert said.
