A Saint Lucian woman who was caught in Guyana with cocaine in her vagina, had served time before in the United Kingdom for drug trafficking about eight years ago, sources have told the Times.
Cosmetologist, 38-year old Chermisa Wheeler, was one of two Saint Lucian women who were caught with cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport last week.
They were both fined and jailed for being in possession of the drug for the purpose of trafficking, according to reports.
Wheeler was fined $GYD 79,200 and jailed for 48 months for being in possession of 88 grammes of cocaine, while 43-year old babysitter, Andree Willy was fined GYD$268,200 and sentenced to 50 months imprisonment for being in possession of 298 grammes of the substance.
According to reliable sources, Wheeler had served time before in the UK for attempting to smuggle drugs under a wig.
The sources expressed bewilderment at the news that the Cosmetologist had now been arrested in Guyana for the same type of offence, saying that she owns a successful salon here that is much in demand.
Both Wheeler and Willy, who are cousins, were on vacation in Guyana and were returning home when they were arrested.
