Police report a reduction in fatal collisions

The Police Traffic Department has reported a reduction in fatal accidents this year as compared to last year.

Inspector Dexter Felix of the Traffic Department has told the Times that in 2014 Saint Lucia recorded 24 fatal collisions.

But he disclosed that so far this year there have only been 13 so far.

According to Felix, this represented a “tremendous decrease.”

“They must be commended for the manner in which they traverse our busy roads,” Felix told the Times.

He noted that with the onset of the Christmas season, the Traffic Department is cautioning motorists to beware of drinking and driving and to ensure that they appoint a designated driver if they intend to consume alcohol.

The Traffic Department captured the Department of the Year Award this year for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF).
