Prime Minister, Doctor Kenny Anthony has announced that the Managing Director of the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), Joachim Henry, is the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party’s candidate to contest the Castries South East seat in the next general elections.
“The Labour party decided that in all circumstances that seats must fall in the hands of the SLP,” Anthony announced this evening to ruling party faithful at the SLP’s annual conference of delegates in Vieux Fort.
He told the conference that incumbent Castries South East MP, Guy Joseph, had won the seat in the last elections by fewer votes than spoilt ballots.
“The days of Guy Joseph are numbered; his days are coming to an end and this Labour Party will spare no effort to remove him from office,” Anthony declared.
He disclosed that Henry will this week officially take his leave from the SSDF to begin campaigning, and once his leave is ended will say goodbye once and for all to the agency.
Anthony also introduced Herbert Roserie, as the person who will lead the Labour party’s challenge to unseat the incumbent Micoud North MP, Doctor Gale Rigobert.
Jerome Gideon will lead the SLP’s charge to unseat the incumbent Dennery South MP.
“They thought we could not find new blood, but here we are on the cusp of a general election and we are able to present to you new, exciting young and different candidates,” the Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party asserted.
