Castries South East MP, Guy Joseph, last night called on the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP), to conduct an audit on the proposed candidate for the constituency in the next general elections.
Joseph spoke at a political rally of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) in Micoud, shortly before Prime Minister Doctor Kenny Anthony announced in Vieux Fort at the SLP’s conference of delegates that Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF) Managing Director, Joachim Henry, was labour’s pick.
Anthony disclosed that Henry would be resigning his position this week.
“I want to sound the alarm for Doctor Kenny Anthony tonight. You should have done an audit of the candidate that you are considering for Castries South East. You didn’t do an audit but I will do an audit for you and I will supply the information to the people of Saint Lucia.”
He asserted that the Labour party would have to de-endorse the candidate it was considering for Castries South East before the next elections.
“The books we have on him are thicker than the books that we have in the parliament of Saint Lucia,” the incumbent MP for Castries South East told UWP supporters last night.
The former Minister of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities said if officials of the ruling Labour party are so concerned about honesty and integrity, they should know who they are sending up for elections.
