Former President of the Southern Taxi Association, Francisco Jn Pierre, has been selected by the United Workers Party (UWP) Laborie and Augier members, to contest the Laborie seat on behalf of the party in the next general elections, the party has announced.
The selection came during a run-off last night.
“It’s a very exciting time for the South because the team for the South is beginning to come together,” UWP leader, Allen Chastanet said.
He disclosed that the party is in the throes of naming a candidate for Choiseul as well as one to contest the Vieux Fort North seat.
“We are putting together a team that will be able to effect major change in the South of the Island,” Chastanet asserted.
He describe the UWP Laborie candidate as having a household name and an individual who is keen to see Saint Lucia move forward.
“He is committed to the people of this country,” Chastanet asserted.
