Castries, Saint Lucia, December 11th 2014: Trinity Lutheran Church’s youth groups are offering a Christmas Vacation Bible School from Tuesday December 15th to Thursday December 17th from 9 AM to 12 PM at their church in beautiful Bisee. The program is free of charge and open to all children from the ages of 3 to 12.
The Christmas story of Jesus birth will be presented in drama, songs and crafts. Trinity has two active youth groups and both will be participating in the organization and carrying out of this year’s Christmas Vacation Bible School. Trinity Lutheran Youth Group is made up of secondary school children.
The Christians in Action Youth Group is made up of those who have graduated from secondary school.
Along with these two local groups, a selected group of high school students from Luther Prepatory School in Watertown Wisconsin are travelling to St Lucia to experience St. Lucian culture and share the message of Christmas. Bonnie Kuerth, director of the program has praised the exchange program run in St. Lucia for the past 25 years as one of the greatest high points of the students lives. She says, “You wouldn’t believe how excited the kids are! Thanks for giving them such a wonderful Christmas/ministry/mission experience!”
The Christmas Vacation Bible School has become a regular ministry to the children of the Castries area for the last 25 years. Pastor Tom Spiegelberg says, “The program run by the youth of Trinity Lutheran is entirely volunteer and important. We have found that even in a Christian country, the commercialism of Christmas can be suffocating. Many of the children have not heard or understood the message of Christmas. God promised to save us from sin. And he kept that promise when he sent his Son to be our Savior. This is what it is all about.
