Sandals resorts continue to expand its world renowned brand with news of talks of two resorts to open in Mexico.
Speaking at the resort chains annual Travel Agent Awards STAR Awards earlier this week the brand’s Chairman Gordon Butch Stewart says that Mexico has become a very important player in the global travel industry.
The Sandals Chairman told travel agents from across the world that he is in talks with Mexican authorities concerning two resorts in a major tourism district of the central American country.
“The investment environment in Mexico is especially good and our talks with them are encouraging.Their approcah to taxation is very pro business and have paid tremendous dividends to their tourism product. It represents an historic move for our company into contral America,” explained Stewart.
He continued: “the government of Mexico has invested enormous resources into tourism infrastructure, an indication of the importance they attach to travel and tourism.”
Stewart also identified Dominican Republic as another potential area of expanion for the 34 year-old resort cpany.
Sandals Chain has been in St. Lucia since 1992 when it purchased Kunard La toc resort and has since acquiried and operated two other luxury resorts on island and employs a workforce of almost 2000 St. Lucians.
