Saint Lucian Lecturer, Denys Springer, has said that he is praying to God that United States Republican Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump, is not elected President because Trump is preaching a lot of hatred.
Trump, who is the GOP frontrunner, has generated controversy after controversy, one of the latest following his assertion that Muslims should be banned from the United States.
“I think Donald Trump is playing to the gallery, but I don’t think he really understands what he is doing is dangerous,” Springer, who lectures in government and politics at the University of the West Indies Open Campus told the Times.
According to him, Trump may unwittingly be aligning himself to anti-black and white supremacist groups.
Springer expressed the opinion that the US Presidential hopeful’s utterances are however, at variance with where Americans came from and how their country was developed.
“All he is doing is looking for sensationalism and if he does not get it he comes up with something that he hopes will trigger it. This is why he is high up in the polls,” the UWI Open Campus Lecturer told the Times.
Springer asserted that Trump would soon face away as the US Presidential elections draw closer and the American people settle down to focus on the real issues confronting their country and “come to their senses”.
