Digicel Spreads More Christmas Cheer through Hamper Distribution Drive

December 17, 2015, Castries St. Lucia; As a corporate citizen with a deep social consciousness, Digicel continues to change lives across the nation under its Brighten Your Christmas theme. Coming off the heels of its Feed the Need programme in which the communities of Laborie, Vieux Fort and Choiseul received hearty Christmas breakfasts; Digicel’s 2015 Hamper Distribution programme got on the way this week with deliveries to a host of organizations, charities, families and individuals. The two day drive commenced on Wednesday December 16th, in the northern part of the island in communities such as Cas en Bas, Balata, Marchand, Ciceron and Water works Road. Special surprise deliveries were made to the Adelaide’s Home, St. Lucy’s Home and the Transit Home. Team Digicel continued on Thursday December 18th with more deliveries in the southern communities of Bruceville, Vieux-Fort, Laborie, Belle Fond and new Development Soufriere.

Among the many recipients were persons with disabilities, visually impaired, bedridden, sick and shut-in, underprivileged families, senior citizens and others. The Living Water Home in Soufriere, Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home and the community relations branch of the St Lucia Royal Police Force were also recipients of Digicel Hampers.

“Digicel is always happy to give back to persons in the communities and a special joy comes when sharing with those who have supported us and stayed by our side throughout the years. Giving and sharing is who we are and what we do at Digicel; it is embedded in our DNA and we will continue to do so. Whether it is through our various feed the need initiatives, special needs programmes, hosting of Christmas parties and distributing toys to children in the communities, Digicel is committed and will remain committed to brightening Christmas and improving the lives of persons in St Lucia” said Tessa Antoine-Valace, Digicel’s Marketing Communications Manager.

This Christmas Season Digicel has impacted many lives and created unforgettable memories for families. Ms Antoine-Valace added “We at Digicel recognize that our corporate social responsibility doesn’t begin and end at Christmas and will continue to maintain our year-long commitments and social programmes, ensuring that the people of St Lucia enjoy a better quality of life”.

Digicel’s social drive will further heighten this weekend with the hosting and collaboration of several kids Christmas parties and toy drives including the Boy’s Training Centre, Smile for a Child and Blazin FM’s Christmas Toy Drive.
