Bus drivers on the 5F Morne Fortune route are demanding guns to protect themselves, after bandits attacked one of their colleagues in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
“We can’t be working all day and night like that and people coming and take your money,” one of the drivers who identified himself as “Crab”, told the Times.
“If we have to come here from 11 to 12 O’ clock in the night we need firearms we need something,” he declared.
Another driver, Shan, observed that the way drivers could possibly protect themselves is by avoiding work at late hours, since possession of a knife or a cutlass can land the drivers in trouble with the Police.
“Christmas time dem fellas really serious, dem man ain’t joking you know, “he said of the criminals.
