Prisoners excel at craft making

Inmates at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) are excelling at a new form of craft making, using matchsticks.

BCF officials told the Times the skill was brought to the prison by an inmate by the name of Kinsworth Williams, who helped two other prisoners, Shawn Victor and Look James to master the art.

Other prisoners are also making different types of craft.

To date they have produced a portrait of Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, made of matchsticks, as well as other items including lanterns and picture frames.

The BCF has disclosed that it is working closely with the Saint Lucia Vendors Association to market the items, with the profits going to the inmates who make them.
