CASTRIES – Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia has for another year joined hands with the Salvation Army to provide warm meals to the less fortunate in the Castries inner city area.
The 4th annual event was held at the Castries Town Hall and attracted almost 200 people from within the area.
The December 26th Boxing Day initiative is made possible through joint efforts of all three Sandals properties in Saint Lucia, each making their own contribution to the overall scope of the project.
The end result sees an assortment of food including ham and turkey, drinks and deserts like cheese and fruit cakes prepared by expert Sandals chefs to international gourmet dining standards and served to the less fortunate by trained Sandals team members and volunteers.
Regional Director for Sandals Resorts International – Eastern Caribbean Andre Dhanpaul said the resorts were honoured to be able to deliver for yet another year this service to those who have grown to expect it.
“It is always amazing to see how the properties come together and how that harmony and team spirit can connect so seamlessly with the season of giving. What is most amazing is the look of gratitude and satisfaction on the faces of those who benefit from this. They don’t always have to say thank you for us to know that they appreciate the annual gesture,” Dhanpaul said.
Captain Dwayne Broome of the Salvation Army said the organization was honoured to have been able to join hands with Sandals once again to execute such a worthwhile project.
He said, “Once more The Salvation Army and Sandals Foundation have partnered to bring cheer to the needy in St. Lucia – a fabulous time of entertainment, service and of course great food. Our clients left full, grateful and satisfied. The Salvation Army looks forward to continuing this noble partnership with the Sandals foundation.”
