Joachim Henry, the head of the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), has resigned his position with the organization with effect from January 1, 2016, well informed sources have told the Times.
Henry headed the SSDF since 2008, according to reports.
Prime Minister Doctor Kenny Anthony in December last year announced that Henry was the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP’s) candidate to contest the Castries South East seat in the next general elections.
Anthony, who is also leader of the SLP, had declared then that in all circumstances that seat must fall into the hands of the SLP.
The seat is currently held by former Communications and Works Minister, Guy Joseph, whom the SLP leader asserted had won the seat by fewer votes than spoilt ballots.
With the resignation of Joachim Henry, former Operations Director of the SSFD, James Perineau, is understood to have been appointed to act as the head of the body.
Perineau is a former Town Clerk.
