Sandals Grande creates 50 new jobs

(PIGEON ISLAND, January 4, 2015 – Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia has added some 50 new permanent employment positions in its Food and Beverage department with the opening of three spanking new state of the art gourmet restaurants at the Sandals Grande Spa & Beach Resort property.

The new additions further increase the Sandals Resorts employment and economic impact in Saint Lucia.

Recently, Sandals Grande officially opened the EC$10M facility which is an extension of the Sandals Gourmet Discovery Dining program.

The additions at Sandals Grande bring the complement of Restaurants at that property to 12 and more than 20 between the three Sandals Resorts in the island. Guests staying at any Sandals property in Saint Lucia can take advantage of the dining experience at all properties.

Chairman of Sandals Resorts International Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart said that St. Lucia continues to be a very important destination for the Sandals brand and the company’s continued investment in the island’s tourism offerings is in keeping with the Resort chain’s philosophy of continuous growth.

“Saint Lucia is a beautiful island and what makes it even more beautiful is the people. This island is very dear to us and we are happy to continue to expand here and create the employment opportunities that empower the average citizen,” the Chairman said.

He added, “Travelers are becoming increasingly demanding so we must continue to redefine ourselves, our product and our brand.”

The Sandals Chairman has saluted the strength and commitment of the some 14000 Sandals team members across the Caribbean, to whom he credits the brand’s continued growth.

General Manager for Sandals Grande Winston Anderson said the property has recruited, trained and selected some of the very best young people in Saint Lucia to carry lead this newest extension of the property.

Present at the opening ceremony were Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Kenny Anthony, Tourism Minister Hon. Lorne Theophilus and other government officials. Political Leader of the Opposition Allen Chastanet and close friend of Sandals Businessman Michael Chastanet and Lady Compton were also in attendance.

    Will the new workers be allowed to join a trade union without fear of intimidation by Sandals?
