Girlfriend of deceased fears for her life

The girlfriend of Saint Lucia’s first homicide victim for 2016 has said that she fears for her life.

Jacky Robert says she was an eyewitness when a woman, accompanied by a gang of thugs, stabbed Joseph Herman  on Jeremie Street.

The stabbing occurred on Old Year’s night at about 8:15 PM, while Herman succumbed to his wounds on New Year’s day.

Robert has said that the female accused had been harassing the couple for years and issuing death threats, but despite many attempts to seek redress through the courts, after nine years there was no action taken even though she had twice been attacked by the female.

Police have since arrested Melissa Joseph and charged her with murder in connection with Herman’s death.

However, Robert is concerned that none of the individuals whom she says accompanied Joseph have been arrested.

She told the Times that she needs some form of protection, since she is known by the others and feels they may try to do her harm.

Robert  disclosed that during the attack on her boyfriend, the mob dealt her several blows.

She was of the opinion that had others not become involved, her boyfriend might have been able to ward off the knife attack, and could have been alive today.

Jacky should be given protection through our Witness Protection Programme.
