New Central Bank Governor appointed

Grenadian Timothy Antoine has been appointed Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) effective February 1.

He takes up the post following the November 30 retirement of Sir K Dwight Venner, who held the position since 1989.

In naming Antoine, Chairman of the ECCB’s Monetary Council and Chief Minister of Anguilla Victor Banks described the Grenadian as an “outstanding” Caribbean professional, with a clear vision for the ECCB and commitment to the development of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.”

Antoine is the holder of a BSc degree in Economics with Management from the University of the West Indies and an MSc in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.

I hope that all times he will act in the best interest of the Eastern Caribbean currency and not pander to politicians in the OECS.
