Fire Destroys Buildings in Rodney Bay

Fire Destroys Buildings in Rodney Bay

About two buildings were destroyed in an early morning fire today in the Rodney Bay area.

The fire occurred opposite the Rodney Bay Casino.

A fire department official told the Times that both buildings were owned by Chreiki and the main building housed 4 tenants including a business owned by Mr. Stanley Felix.

Reports are that the businesses included Matthews Bar and a laundromat.

The official said that the Fire Department received the report around 4:32 a.m. today.

There were a few challenges the department encountered with the outage of the fire such as live electricity running through the lines on the poles and low water pressure from the hydrant.

However, LUCELEC was thereafter able to cut the electricity and the department was able to use sea water until WASCO boosted the hydrant water supply, the official reported.

According to the reports, no one was injured in the fire.
