DONALD TRUMP has been accused of “viciously attacking” a news reporter as made the unprecedented decision to not take part in a presidential TV debate.
American media giant Fox News has fired back at the presidential candidate after he refused to take part in a debate tomorrow.
But it is not just any debate, it is the last chance to have his voice heard before voters choose their presidential nominee.
Mr Trump has refused to take part in what he has called an “irreversible decision”.
The fallout began when presenter Megyn Kelly accused the New York billionaire of misogyny in the first debate last August and he responded the next day by accusing her of having blood “coming out of everywhere”.
He denied he was referring to menstruation.
Fox claimed he then spent days trying to have her removed from her post.
On Tuesday, Fox put out a statement that questioned Mr Trump’s ability to deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
fterwards, Mr Trump announced his refusal to join in the final show stating he does not have to “make Fox rich” in the debates that pull in millions of viewers.
The network said in a statement that Mr Trump’s decision is “unprecedented” and accused him of “terrorising” debate host Megyn Kelly.
In a statement Fox News said: “We’re not sure how Iowans are going to feel about him walking away from them at the last minute, but it should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage.
“Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats, including the one leveled by Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski toward Megyn Kelly.”
His decision to pull out has been mocked by his Republican rivals.
