Guy Joseph chides the local media

Castries South East MP, Guy Joseph, has suggested that the local media are partial to the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP).

Joseph was responding to a reporter’s question about whether United Workers Party (UWP) leader, Allen Chastanet, was now eying the Micoud North seat.

The Micoud North constituency is currently represented in parliament by the UWP’s Doctor Gale Rigobert, the leader of the parliamentary opposition.

In response to the question as he arrived at the house of assembly today, Joseph said:

“Why is the media engaging in this kind of thing? We have endorsed candidates in these areas.”

The former Communications and Works Minister asserted that the media were not dealing with the propaganda in the labour party.

“But everything you all hear about the UWP you all run and talk about it as if there was something to it,” he observed, adding “ Why haven’t you found out why Robert Lewis resigned?”

When it was pointed out that Lewis had recalled indicating when he entered politics that he would serve for two terms, Joseph’s reply was that he was not aware that Lewis had made that statement.

“I am not saying he didn’t say it, but I am telling you I don’t know he said it,” Joseph said.

According to him:

“Didn’t Doctor Anthony say that he would serve for three years and then leave, so what’s the issue here ? Have you all questioned him on this and what has happened? What is his explanation? There’s nobody to lead Saint Lucia other than him?”

Guy Joseph was also asked about the appointment of HTS Journalist and Anchor, Jade Brown, as the new Press Secretary to Prime Minister Doctor Kenny Anthony.

His response was that people will do as they please.

However the Castries South East MP observed that when certain things are said about media practitioners, some individuals take offence.

“ When in certain instances you say  news is slanted in a certain way, I give you a long interview and you may  cut a thirty second clipping and give what you want, but when you see the people and where they move  to then you begin to understand why certain things happen in a certain way,” Joseph declared.

It is sacriligious how people like you and Golden Balls feel you all could just use words black is white without even bothering to check whether they suit the context. I know one thing if there is one thing I know Golden Balls will not be able to stomach a revolution in st Lucia as he will see it as a threat to his economic position and clout. What both of are after is a change of government. That will result in no fundamental change. Don’t ask for what you don’t want.

Now if jool caca did not hear about Lewis’s saying that he would only serve two terms in office that would come as no supprise. the party executive not informing him is also no supprise either. It is a reflection of their honesty but also the corrosive nature of the inner core of UWP. In that state is that party ready for office? If elected st lucians will have no one else to blame for the mess they will cause.
