‘Pep’ leaving elective politics

‘Pep’ is bowing out of politics.

Doctor Desmond Long, better known by his calypso stage name ‘ The Mighty Pep’, will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming general elections, well placed sources have told the Times.

According to information, ‘Pep’ has already made his intention known to the top brass the ruling Saint Lucia Party (SLP).

Doctor Long, a medical doctor by profession, is the current representative for Anse La Raye Canaries.

SLP insiders have told the Times that despite several attempts by his constituency group to have him clear the air on the future of his candidacy, the MP has refrained from doing so.

One insider disclosed that the group had invited Long to at least three meetings, two in December last year and one this month,  to make his intentions clear.

However the official declared that the MP attended none.

Five hopefuls are in line to succeed ‘Pep’ as the ruling party candidate for Anse La Raye Canaries.

The selection process is due to get underway soon, according to reports.

The incumbent MP joins  another sitting labour MP, Doctor Robert Lewis, in bowing out of elective politics.

Lewis, who served two terms  as the representative for Castries South, is currently Saint Lucia Minister of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour.

This will show Pep and people like him that in the SLP you advance only as far as one man and the carbal wants you to. If you consider your self worth you leave. If big Mario was a victim who else. Short Pants saw it. Lewis saw it and Loerne will soon. So Pep you in a group and not alone. Pip have no backbone

I never liked what they did to you Pep, that was a travesty. I don’t know why you got into bed with those people anyway. You were worth much more than the foolishness they did with you. You made it to the history books as a shining example of how not to get played. We all knew you were out long time ago.

A medical doctor. Why not the minister of health,i mean everybody is crying concerning the health institutions throughout the island so it’s obvious the present minister of health is not doing a good job. Why not having a cabinet reshuffle. For five years u not change not even one of your cabinet member. Hello Mr. Man st Lucia is not yours, say thanks u of all person were given that previlege to lead the country but because of your egoes and selfishness u make a mess of it. So bro make way for a new leader in the person of Allan. One is taken away because he did not do the will of the people and another one replace him.

Pep never had it politically. Him winning that seat in 2011 showed how much anse LA Raye canaries ppl wanted to get rid of mondezod. Besides I have an issue with ppl like pep who get into politics with nothing to offer the populace. What a waste of time.

Cocoa Sec am trying to open your mind so u can see the truth. Kenny have brainwash u and some who think like u too much. Open your mind and think don’t absorb everything these guys say. U don’t see Kenny is a bluffer. Where is the 100 millions that would have been poured in the local economy. Where are the jobs, jobs and more jobs. Where are the better days. These were his promise upon which he was given a mandate, have he done any of what he promise if no he should go. That’s my point.
