Suspected arsonist to face another charge

Suspected arsonist, Peter Merius, 40, is expected to eventually face seven charges in connection with the devastating Rodney Bay fire, his Attorney, Daasrean Greene has disclosed.

Merius, of Degazon, Gros Islet, made his first appearance in court yesterday, February 4, 2016.

At the time he is reported to have been charged with five counts of damage and one count of arson.

It was not immediately clear what the additional charge would be.

Marius was granted bail in the sum of EC$ 50,000.00, suitable surety or land document on the charge of arson and EC$5,000.00, suitable surety or land document on each charge of damage.

He was ordered to surrender travel documents and to report to the Gros-Islet Police Station every Wednesday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
